Hand Painted Furniture Projects

Many of you are aware of my love for refinishing furniture. It began out of necessity for finding an affordable way to bring "new" pieces into our home. Painting furniture is a quick and easy way to make a "needs a little love" piece look fabulous.

But this "thing" happened last year when I discovered Annie Sloan Chalk Paint...like a butterfly in the stomach "thing". For those of you who have not seen chalk painted pieces, I will have to tell you that there is something very loved about it. The chalk paint is often distressed to give it a vintage feel then finished by rubbing a soft wax over the painted surface. Not only does the wax finish look luxurious and velvety, but it is so simple to do, wears very well and you can paint over it any time you like. An extra perk is that this paint is low VOC and is manufactured in both Europe and US. Our home now showcases 4 Annie Sloan chalk paint pieces, each picked up on craigslist and needing some love, or already in our home (and needing some love). The images are of those pieces (before and after, except for the dresser).
