Picking Paint Colors {Grey, Beige or Greige}

The first task we aimed to tackle in our new home was to paint…from top to bottom, ceiling to floor and everything in between.

To recap: The front room, entry way, kitchen and bedrooms have all been painted Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter, HC-172.  It's the most searched color on the Benjamin Moore website, and for good reason. The choice of this paint was easiest for me, as I had been perusing Pinterest for weeks searching for the perfect "greige" (grey + beige). You can also see below that the molding and ceiling were given an update with a bright white.

Revere Pewter is a light gray with warm undertones and a neutral color that works equally well with everything. It's been called the "perfect whole house color" and is ideal for an open floor plan. It's dark enough that it contrasts nicely with whites and off-whites, but not so dramatic that it competes with bold colors. I love that at times it appears grey with green undertones, while at other times, it is clearly more beige.

Front Room (Corner): After Painting

For the dining room (which was previously painted chocolate brown, pictures to come), I wanted a darker, more true grey. This was just a small sampling of the grey paint chips that littered our dining room table.

After much trepidation, paint returns (twice), color decisions and re-decisions, we settled on Valspar Pantone String, PN1050 (upper left corner). It really is lovely, and I promise to update you with photos once the room doesn't look like quite a disaster.

I wish that I could tell you that I've chosen paint and we are 100% finished painting the rest of our house as well, but I can't. Boo. But, we're at about 80% complete. This is real life, right?  Most of us have lived in houses that are in the middle of construction/decorating and it's all just a part of the process. It's all going to be so beautiful, fresh, clean and HOME when its finished!

Our New Home

We bought our house in December 2013, and are spending most of our extra time making it home.  We will update our blog with progress pictures as we complete projects in each room, but for now, here is a little tidbit to tide you over.

New Beginnings

Hey there. We’re Casey and Katie. You may be wondering about how we came to be bloggers.  Well, I have a love for decor, entertaining, cooking, fitness, and well being married to an amazing guy.  Casey can’t get enough of his power tools, hands-on projects, anything outdoors, and well, me! Since we recently moved across the country to Indiana, bought a house, started renovating and exploring our new surroundings, a blog seemed like the best way to catalog our transformations, share our interests, and update our family and friends without needing to pick out new stationary. We are excited to unfold this new life in Indy and we are thrilled that we can share it with you...right here.  So we invite you to follow along as we catalog our journey!
